BNSF Bridge 294.1 over Salt Fork River


Project Summary

To meet increasing shipping needs and relieve the aging bridge built in 1899 over the Salt Fork of the Arkansas River near Ponca City, OK, construction of the $14-million BNSF project began in 2013. TranSystems completed the design and construction management for the new single-tracked, 7-span, 587-foot bridge including three 127- foot through plate girder spans, two 62-foot steel deck plate girder spans and three pre-stressed concrete spans. The existing bridge consisted of three 127-foot through truss spans with 48-foot deck plate girder approach spans.
