Joliet Intermodal Terminal

CenterPoint Properties, UPRR, and BNSF

Project Summary

The Chicago area is a national rail hub and intermodal container traffic is the fastest growing segment of freight rail, however, freight movement across the region by rail was slow and inefficient. To address the region’s problem, two state-of-the-art intermodal rail facilities and logistics parks were developed for $200 million to form the third largest “port” in the world. TranSystems successfully partnered with CenterPoint Properties, UPRR, and BNSF and was the primary design engineer on each of these massive projects. TranSystems served as the master planner and lead design engineer.
