Project Summary

TranSystems served the Columbus Regional Airport Authority (CRAA) as their General Engineering Consultant since 2004 for the development of an intermodal facility and necessary infrastructure adjacent to the Rickenbacker International Airport (LCK). The intermodal facility, developed in partnership between CRAA and Norfolk Southern Railroad, covers 284 acres with an ultimate capacity of over 400,000 lifts annually. The first phase of the project opened in 2007 with an annual capacity of 75,000 lifts. The intermodal yard serves as a primary initial development of the Rickenbacker Global Logistics Park planned for the area surrounding the airport. TranSystems served as the general consultant assisting the CRAA with over $100 million in planned improvements, including the intermodal facility, access roads, and new water and sanitary sewer facilities.
