Downtown Norfolk Waterfront Improvements

Norfolk National Maritime Center

Project Summary

Norfolk's National Maritime Center sought a mooring plan for the USS Wisconsin, a decommissioned 887-foot battleship destined to become a crowd-pleasing  attraction. TranSystems assessed infrastructure at Nauticus Pier, conducted geotechnical exploration, provided topographic data, digitally modeled the harbor's hydrographic data, and profiled the ship's hull. The TranSystem's team then designed the berthing improvements, including dredging, docking, mooring, piering and bulkheading. Associated improvements to enhance the attraction included site lighting, parking, communications utilities and walkways.
