Project Summary

Generated a market forecast based on container origin/destination study and provided conceptual engineering for a rail/barge transfer station to handle ISO containers transshipped from a container terminal for intermodal transfer. The innovative scheme included vehicle movement paths and crane automation.  The proposed 50-acre, $25 million development will improve operations, reduce truck emissions, and reduce local road traffic. Components include a 650-foot-long by 120-foot-wide pile-supported container wharf, rail improvements, and facilities for barge service between two operating companies.
