Project Summary

When the PANYNJ acquired the old Greenville Railyard they found themselves with an 85-acre parcel of prime waterfront industrial property.  The Port recognized that they needed a comprehensive program for developing the site and called on TranSystems to provide planning, operations analysis and design services. The team prepared an optimum rail layout with over 65,000 feetof  track, an innovative replacement for up to three rail transfer bridges, a dedicated barge-to-rail transfer facility using fully automated gantries and direct-to-rail technologies, and a high throughput capacity, near-dock, intermodal container transfer facility.
