Central Railroad Corridor Greenway Pedestrian Overpass over I-95

Florida DOT, District 4

Project Summary

The Trans-Florida Central Rail Trail is now connected by the Central Railroad Corridor Greenway (CRCG) Pedestrian Overpass over I-95 in Fellsmere, Florida. The 12-foot-wide, $4.6 million project includes a two-mile path connecting Fellsmere Trailhead Preserve and the North County Regional Park. The improvements consisted of constructing a portion of the CRCG trail, including a prefabricated weathering steel pedestrian bridge with architectural walls and towers, paving, curb and gutter, guardrail, detectable warnings, drainage improvements, fencing, sod, signing and pavement markings, ITS systems, fiber optic cable installation, and lighting. Using the old Trans Florida Central Railroad right-of-way, Indian River County created hiking and biking trails.
