Berry Street Roadway

City of Ft. Worth, TX

Project Summary

Neighborhood leaders wanted to transform west Berry Street in Fort Worth into an urban village and pedestrian-friendly thoroughfare where residents and visitors could meander to shopping and dining destinations. In order to entice pedestrian traffic, TranSystems’ roadway design narrows the street from six to four lanes and adds a median in a five-block area. The design also provides enhanced sidewalks, traffic control and signals, and new landscaping, wayfinding and streetscape improvements. The distinctive lighting, sidewalks and landscaping will extend in future phases for another 2.5-miles.

Project Highlights

  • Protected on-street parking creates a buffer between the sidewalk and the street
  • New crosswalks, benches and lighting were added
