Bloomingdale Trail and Park

City of Chicago, IL

Project Summary

The City of Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), along with numerous community partners, is constructing the Bloomingdale Trail and Park – a multi-use linear park that will be the first of its kind in Chicago – built along an unused, elevated rail line along Bloomingdale Avenue. Stretching 2.7 miles, the Bloomingdale Trail and Park runs through four vibrant Chicago northwest side neighborhoods, adjacent to numerous private properties, and crosses over major arterials, an historic boulevard, bus and bicycle routes, and the CTA Blue Line. TranSystems is providing Resident Engineering and construction inspection services for this major city improvement. The project includes a heavy landscaping component, including tree preservation and the installation of many varieties of trees and plants in a very urbanized environment.
