Brent Spence Bridge

Ohio DOT - District 8

Project Summary

Ohio DOT retained TranSystems to provide planning and preliminary design for the replacement of the Brent Spence Bridge over the Ohio River. The study area encompassed the adjoining six-and-a-half mile segment of I-75.  The bridge carries national and regional traffic from both I-75 and I-71 through the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area.  TranSystems provided technical expertise for traffic engineering including capacity analyses, public involvement and cost estimating. The team also used VISSIM modeling to evaluate seven alternatives for the Western Hills Viaduct on the Ohio side of the bridge.
