Project Summary

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), in cooperation with the federal government and local officials in Orange, Seminole, Volusia and Osceola counties and the City of Orlando, has advanced SunRail, a commuter rail transit project that travels along a 31-mile stretch of existing rail freight tracks in the four-county area, with future phases totaling over 60 miles in length. TranSystems was selected as part of the joint venture design/build team of Archer Western and RailWorks for the design and construction of phase I of the SunRail project at a cost of $168 Million. In addition, TranSystems assisted the FDOT District Five with the review and certification of the SunRail Fixed Guideway Safety and Security Program Plan (SSPP), public outreach and education, which included station platform ambassador training and assistance during service start-up, and SunRail connectivity solution planning and coordination.
