TranSystems Announces New and Promoted Company Partners
TranSystems announces its newest company partners. These appointments recognize professionals who have made outstanding contributions to the company’s success and growth, have demonstrated in-depth industry knowledge and have proven the ability to work effectively across the organization. 
 
These individuals were nominated and accepted by TranSystems’ Board of Directors into new leadership positions and ownership levels within the company.

Principal & Senior Vice President
  • Todd Bright, PE, of the Schaumburg, Ill., office has nearly 30 years of experience in the planning, design and construction of municipal projects within the Chicago region. During his career, he has cross-sold many of TranSystems services including roadway, bridge, freight rail, and traffic. His expertise in the area of funding and public outreach has laid the foundation for accelerating projects to implementation and ultimately construction. Several of his projects have received national recognition within the transportation industry.
  • Tomas Stuopis, PE, of the Boston office has more than 34 years of bridge engineering experience working in a variety of roles from project manager to quality control engineer. He has specialized expertise with complex bridge structures having worked on several high-profile bridges throughout Massachusetts.
Master Professional & Vice President
  • Walid Antonios, PE, of the Columbus, Ohio, office has served as project manager and team member on a wide variety of transportation projects, ranging from roadway widening projects to complex interchange design. He has been involved with more than 200 roadway, traffic and bridge projects throughout Ohio and serves as the roadway team leader for TranSystems’ Ohio offices.
  • Nabil Farah, PE, of the Cleveland, Ohio, office has more than 30 years of experience managing and designing highway/interchange projects as well as railroad grade separations. He serves as the bridge team leader in Ohio and as innovative delivery pursuit manager. He has designed the replacement and rehabilitation of over 150 Ohio structures, including primary and secondary vehicular and railroad bridges.
Senior Associate & Vice President
  • Lawrence Kirchner, PE, SE, of the Chicago office has more than 30 years of experience in structural design and project management for a wide range of bridge, roadway, and rail projects in Illinois and throughout the United States. He has extensive experience managing improvement projects for the Illinois Department of Transportation, Chicago DOT, Metra and other agencies. His project experience includes Chicago’s award-winning Wacker Drive Reconstruction.
  • Brian Krul, PE, of the Pittsburgh, Pa., office has more than 20 years of experience in transportation design, engineering, project management and business development. He has provided transportation engineering and design services, and managed major highway, bridge and traffic projects in western Pennsylvania for several government agencies such as PennDOT, PA Turnpike and local City and Counties.  
  • Allen Smith, PE, SE, of the St. Louis office has more than 27 years of project management and bridge engineering experience for both highway and railroad structures. He has managed several major river crossings, including two of St. Louis’ historic Mississippi River crossings, the Eads and Merchants Bridges.
  • John Zimmermann, PE, ENV SP, of the Kansas City, Mo., office has more than 25 years of experience in the design and planning on a variety of projects from trails to roadways to highways. He has planned or designed more than 400 miles of trails and pedestrian/bicycle-oriented infrastructure. He is a national leader for alternative and sustainable transportation.
Associate & Assistant Vice President
  • Chad Gartner, PE, of the Fort Worth, Texas, office has 26 years of experience in the design and project management for a wide range of transportation projects, including highways, rural and urban roadways, bridges, traffic, passenger rail, and municipal projects throughout the Dallas Fort Worth area and Texas. Gartner currently leads TranSystems’ Fort Worth operations.
  • Todd Herman, of the Kansas City, Mo., office has 24 years of experience in bridge plan preparation, planning, project and client management of transportation structures, with an emphasis over the last 15 years on railroad structures for the Class I railroads.
 
Senior Professional & Assistant Vice President
  • Muhammad Ammad, PE, LEED AP, in the Hartford, Ct., office is an experienced structural engineer with significant expertise in bridge inspection, bridge load rating analyses, bridge design, highway design, foundation design, drainage design, developing bridge and highway plans, and construction inspection of bridges. He has worked on various complex bridges throughout Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Massachusetts.
  • Jerome de Verrier, PE, in the Berkeley, Calif., office has served more than 11 years as project manager and project engineer for numerous projects throughout Northern California predominantly in roadway design, flood control, and site development.
  • Matthew Johnson, PE, SE, in the Kansas City, Mo., office has more than 20 years of structural engineering, design and inspection experience working on bridges across the Midwest. He has extensive experience in designing straight and curved welded steel plate girders, welded steel box girders, pre-stressed concrete beams, concrete box culverts and sign trusses.
  • Martin Maver, PE, in the Newark, N.J., office has more than 23 years of experience in the analysis and design of bridges, including new and historic structures and the repair, rehabilitation and widening of existing bridges. He has been the project manager, construction manager, project engineer and designer on various projects in New Jersey and New York varying from historic bridges, major expressway structures, local bridges, railroad terminals, parking structures, historic canals and locks.  
  • Matthew Santeford, PE, SE, LEED Green Associate, in the Schaumburg, Ill., office has 15 years of extensive professional structural experience in design and management of concrete and steel structures for highway, railroad and mass transit projects across the Midwest, including working on Chicago’s Jane Byrne (Circle) Interchange.
These promotions are part of an annual process determined by the firm’s partner performance and development committee, a committee formed in 2003 to refine the company’s leadership development standards by identifying a process for selecting future leaders and owners.

Located approximately eight miles west of Downtown Cleveland, the historic and iconic Hilliard Road Bridge spans the beautiful, pristine Rock River Valley, which is part of the Cleveland Metroparks' "Emerald Necklace" of parks that encircle the greater Cleveland area. Major airports across the country are in the middle of a construction boom, with a reported $5.42 billion spent on airport construction in May 2018 – a 75 percent increase over May 2017. A multi-year $14 billion construction plan is underway at LAX and New York’s LaGuardia has started a renovation worth an estimated $8 billion, while Chicago is in the midst of kicking off an $8.7 billion Capital Improvement Program. click to read
Built in 1697 and reconstructed in 1893, The Frankford Avenue Bridge over Pennypack Creek in the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia recently underwent another rehabilitation continuing its history. TranSystems served as designer on the rehabilitation.  click to read
TranSystems Corp., a national transportation consulting firm that provides engineering, architectural, planning and construction solutions, welcomes Ali Tali, PE, as Vice President and Northeast Region Bridge Design Practice Leader. He will work out of the company’s Boston office. click to read
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) and BNSF Railway (BNSF) partnered to replace a BNSF bridge over the busy Interstate 235. The project was bid by ODOT as part of its largest construction package in history, at a contract bid price of $81 million, of which the truss bridge comprised $17.5 million. The contract time for the interchange project was 850 calendar days, which was reduced to 700 days using A+B bidding. Careful planning and modifying of construction sequences by the contractor further reduced the schedule to 550 days.
