Greg M. Murphy, PE, has been named Senior Vice President for the States and Municipalities Sector of TranSystems. In this role, Murphy will be responsible for developing strategic direction and growing the practice serving state DOTs, tollways and municipalities, with primary focus on the Great Lakes and Central U.S. Greg brings a solid combination of public- and private-sector experience, as well as strong relationships with many top-level state and federal transportation officials through his involvement with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.
“Greg joined us from the Ohio Department of Transportation just 15 months ago, but his positive impact has been quickly felt throughout the company and across all market sectors,” Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer John Grow said. “He brings a wealth of current client knowledge and fresh perspective to the development, funding and management of challenging projects and programs.”
Since starting with TranSystems in 2015, Murphy has used his leadership, sales and operations expertise to serve as Senior Vice President of Sales and Operations for the Great Lakes East Region. Prior to joining TranSystems, Murphy served more than four years as Chief of Staff/Assistant Director for the ODOT, where he co-led the efficiency efforts to redirect $600 million over a six-year period from operations to the capital construction program. He also led the development and passage of ODOT’s $6 billion biennial transportation budgets, which included Public-Private Partnership enabling legislation; directed the study to re-leverage the Ohio Turnpike’s unused value for northern Ohio major projects; and initiated and implemented Ohio’s first local bridge partnership program.
Murphy holds a Bachelor of Arts in physics from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from The Ohio State University and a Master of Business Administration from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio.
