Richard P. Markwith, PE, has been named Market Sector Leader for the States and Municipalities Sector of TranSystems Corp. He has more than 30 years of experience in the planning, design and management of a wide variety of transportation projects and programs encompassing both the public and private sector.
In this role, Markwith will be responsible for growing the practice serving state DOTs, tollways and municipalities, providing strategic direction and overseeing sales, serving as a national leader for the firm’s largest market sector.
“Rich brings significant strengths in evaluating market trends, gathering client intelligence and organizing and implementing strategy to this role,” said Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer John Grow. “These skills, along with his solid industry relationships, have allowed Rich to lead our Southeast Region to record success during his tenure in the region.”
Markwith joined TranSystems in 2013. He has held a variety of leadership positions with the firm, including as Southeast Regional Vice President, Regional Sales Leader, Atlanta Area Manager and Client Manager for Georgia DOT, MARTA and other clients.
Starting his career as a bridge engineer, Markwith designed and managed highway and bridge projects for state Departments of Transportation and toll agencies throughout the Northeast & Mid-Atlantic regions. He also has experience with several transit agencies. As his career progressed, he served in a variety of business development, operations, and leadership roles with other consulting firms.
Markwith holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Lehigh University. He currently serves on the board of directors for the American Road and Transportation Builders Association.
