CHICAGO, Ill. – The TranSystems team has won the American Council of Engineering Companies' (ACEC) Grand Conceptor Award for their work on the Wacker Drive and Congress Parkway Reconstruction project for the City of Chicago. TranSystems, an engineering and consulting firm that provides integrated solutions to transportation infrastructure challenges, was the Program Manager on this $303 million project. Located in the heart of Chicago, Ill, this roadway, bridge and tunnel improvement project involved complex staging to keep 135,000 vehicles and a staggering 150,000 pedestrians moving through the construction zone every day.
The Wacker Drive and Congress Parkway Reconstruction project won the ACEC Illinois Chapter Engineering Excellence Award earlier this year, which made it eligible for the National ACEC Grand Conceptor Award. A panel of 25-30 judges representing distinguished professionals in the industry, as well as government, academia and media, conferred for three days to critique and rank all submissions for engineering excellence. The panel first selected the top 24 award winners – 16 Honor Awards and eight Grand Awards. From there, one Grand Conceptor Award was announced at the Engineering Excellence Awards Gala held Tuesday, April 29, in Washington, D.C.
“It was fantastic to be selected as one of the eight ACEC Grand Awards, but when they announced our team had won, I felt extremely honored for our team,” said Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer, Richard Morsches, TranSystems. "Our project manager, Tony Albert, did an amazing job and this is well-earned.”
TranSystems' Project Manager, Tony Albert added, “It is a complete honor to be recognized by our peers for all of the hard work that was put into this project. It was a complete team effort to accomplish this amazing project.”
