Construction Inspection and Observation

By examining infrastructure to ensure the construction, alteration, or repair complies with building codes and ordinances, zoning regulations, and contract specifications, the construction inspector serves as a quality manager and objective liaison between the construction team and the client. TranSystems has significant experience in the inspection of heavy highway construction including rigid and flexible pavements; multi-span and simple bridges; box culverts; cast-in-place and modular block retaining walls; grading; and traffic signal installations. We also have significant experience with inspecting road and street reconstruction/rehabilitation projects involving careful field coordination with other existing improvements. All of our key inspection personnel have experience working in urban and rural traffic conditions. Our previous work experience with large rural and urban reconstruction and widening projects give us the solid background necessary to provide quality construction management. Our staff also has experience with metric improvement projects, as well as other transportation modes such as rail and maritime.

Construction Inspection has been an important part of TranSystems’ service offering since 1985. Over the past 20 years, our staff has continued to grow in size and experience. Our history and present qualifications encompass the complete spectrum of testing and inspection methods, as well as the construction management system (CMS) documentation program currently required by the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT). With a large staff of PEs placed in offices around the country, we can provide a local presence at many job sites, and diverse knowledge areas such as documentation, change orders, construction scheduling, utility coordination, construction staking, field/plant sampling and testing of asphalt and concrete, falsework/temporary structures plan review and site inspection, special investigations for construction related problems, and quality control/quality assurance materials testing.
