Security Program Development

A well-developed and properly implemented security program protects an organization’s people, assets, and reputation. Investing time and resources in prevention means less down-time from lost or damaged materials or assets, improved productivity from secure employees, and lower legal liability. As the saying goes: “unless it is written down, it does not exist.” This is particularly true of Security Programs. TranSystems consultants create written programs tailor-made to a particular organization or site based on operations, risk, industry best practices, and regulatory or legal requirements.

Based on a particular need, a comprehensive program could consist of a variety of documents that could be stand-alone or combined with other documents such as employee manuals. TranSystems works with clients to develop a number of documented security policies and procedures, including: security awareness (employee participation in security program); background checks and updates; access and visitor control; identification badges; reporting and tracking security incidents; management of company or personal property; protection of Information; weapons in the workplace; workplace violence; transportation safety; mail and package receipt and screening; initial and recurring security training; robbery attempt or anti robbery; and security officer post orders or operations manual.

TranSystems’ programs are supported by Security System Guidelines, which serve several purposes. First, they establish recommended minimum standards for protective measures. Second, they establish standard installation requirements that ensure proper installation of protective measures, interoperability between locations, streamlines operations and installation/procurement process, and reduces duplicative work. Recommended guidelines include:

  • Access control systems
  • Barriers (fencing, vehicle barriers, doors, windows, etc)
  • Electronic door hardware
  • Emergency notification system
  • Intrusion detection systems
  • Video surveillance
  • Security system monitoring and command and control
  • Security lighting
  • Security system communication
  • Testing and commissioning of systems
  • Security signage
  • Locking
  • Key control
  • Security gate houses
  • Security system naming convention
  • Installation Standards
                   - Card Reader Installation Standards
                   - Door Position Switch Standards
                   - Request for Exit Standards
                   - Supervision of Monitored Circuits
