Pacific Lutheran University School of Nursing Clinical Learning and Simulation Center Renovation

Formerly a two-story bookstore just off the Pacific Lutheran University Campus, this project transformed the existing building into the “flagship” of PLU’s nursing program, the School of Nursing Clinical Learning and Simulation Center. The project renovated 13,400 sqft of space to create a realistic hospital environment with clinical and simulation spaces. The renovation provides students and staff with a 16-bed inpatient clinical laboratory with adjacent support space, two simulation labs with camera-assisted debrief rooms for advanced practice care, classrooms, staff offices, and common areas. TranSystems (formerly BCE Engineers) provided mechanical, electrical, low voltage, and fire protection design, which included specialty HVAC systems to support compressed air needed for medical gas simulations and an enhanced design effort to coordinate with the Technology Department for the camera-assisted debrief rooms.
