TranSystems (formerly L.R. Kimball), served as the local permitting and design engineer for development of the 1 GW Competitive Power Ventures Fairview Energy Center. Services provided for this project included topographic mapping and site survey, development of subdivision and lot consolidation plans, creation of easement drawings, coordination with local landowners regarding easements, geotechnical investigations, site infiltration testing at proposed stormwater management locations, DEP NPDES permitting for the industrial discharge, county permits for erosion & sedimentation controls, development of PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permits, and coordination of “laydown plans” for use during project construction.
One of TranSystem’s primary roles on the project was the siting, preliminary and final design of the raw water and industrial discharge pipelines and working with the local municipal water authority. These pipelines were placed parallel, over a roughly 8.5-mile right-of-way, through brownfields areas, wooded land, and an urban area requiring a 1,200-foot horizontal boring. In addition, we provided a similar design for a 1-mile pipeline to deliver natural gas to the new facility.
