In an effort to reduce congestion and increase safety along I-71 south of Columbus, Ohio Department of Transportation District 6 selected TranSystems to lead the widening and reconstruction of two interchanges at I-71 and the area of Stringtown Road located in Grove City, Ohio.
The team’s solution included the use of Collector-Distributor (C-D) lanes along I-71 to separate traffic traveling to and from Stringtown Road and I-270, from through-traffic on I-71 to improve the weave operations between the two closely-spaced interchanges. The addition of the C-D lanes necessitated the complete reconstruction of the ramps at Stringtown Road and I-270. TranSystems coordinated project efforts with the design and construction teams involved with adjacent projects to ensure the final design fit within the broader context of the area, will accommodate future construction, and to identify cost savings in construction
