The BNSF Railroad bridge over US 59 near FM762/Reading Road in Fort Bend County was causing operational and geometric challenges preventing the widening of US 59 through the area. TranSystems was selected by the Texas Department of Transportation, Houston District based on our innovative approach to reconfiguring US 59 as an elevated section over Reading Road, the BNSF, and FM762 instead of the current depressed sections. TranSystems’ services included topographic survey, route and design studies, freeway/roadway design, bridge layout and design for seven concrete TxDOT standard structures, bridge design, MSE retaining wall design (totaling over 14,500 l.f.), hydrology and hydraulics, and overall project management for this approximately 1.4-mile freeway reconstruction project.
