My Day
8:30 – 9 AM – Begin the Day
I typically start my day around 8:30 AM, sometimes earlier if I have a lot to do. I normally check my emails first to make sure I’m up to date, and then jump into whatever projects I’m working on.
9 – 11 AM – Work on Current Projects
I’m currently working on a LOR for District 6 Repair/Rehab Plans Preparation, as well as a technical package for a District 4 Local Government Bridge Inspection contract.
11 AM – 12 PM – Check in with Mentors
I regularly check in with my mentor Dana Hilton and Drew Hensley. They have both been instrumental in my growth prior to and after the acquisition.
12 – 1 PM – Lunch Break
Depending on my workload, I try to step away for lunch. If I have a lot going on I will eat at my desk.
1 – 2 PM – Attend Weekly Meetings
Weekly meetings I attend include our Southeast Market call, where we go over our workload. I also meet weekly with Dana Hilton to discuss any assistance that’s needed on pursuits or for her to teach something new.
2 – 3 PM – Collaborate with Colleagues
I work with Steve Shaup’s group in the Fort Lauderdale office regularly, as I assist with many of the D6 and D4 bridge pursuits. I also run the Florida Locals CST, so I work closely with the offices from SEPI Legacy as they have a lot of local clients and pursuits. I run a Florida Locals CST call every 8 weeks to discuss clients and strategy.
3 – 4 PM – Attend Other Important Meetings & Calls
There are many calls I attend to help better my knowledge. Whether it’s sitting in on the Port of Palm Beach calls to learn interview strategies, or running a red team draft for a pursuit, being involved in all of them helps me broaden my skills.
4 – 5 PM – Finish Project Tasks & Sign off
I normally try to be off my computer by 5 PM. Working from home makes it a little challenging to disconnect, so I try to wrap up around 5/5:30 PM. When I finish work, I will work out, take the dog for a walk, and start dinner.
