Career Q&A

  • I chose to pursue a career as a Communications Coordinator because…

One of my greatest passions is writing because I enjoy being able to create connections, exchange ideas, and build bonds through written word. Recognizing writing as one of my core strengths, I decided to pursue a career in marketing. My aim is to assist businesses in effectively communicating their values, messages, and objectives to their target audiences in meaningful ways.

  • The thing I love most about my job is…

Being able to use my creativity to connect with audiences by creating messages that will pique their interest. I would almost describe it as creating a word puzzle where every piece falls into place, and you are left with an intriguing message. It allows me to think strategically to figure out what kinds of messaging will attract specific audiences.

  • My favorite thing about TranSystems is…

My team and how supportive everyone is of one another. They have created such a positive and healthy work environment that makes me enjoy coming into the office. I learn so much from every person I work with and consider them all to be great mentors.

  • Since joining TranSystems…

As an intern when I was in college and then now full time, my life has changed a lot. I have learned to take advantage of every learning opportunity and to soak it all in. There is so much I have learned just by observing others and asking questions. I feel so much more confident in my professional communication skills thanks to all the learning experiences I have received.

My Day

8 – 9 AM – Begin the Day

I usually get to work at 8:30 am and start my day off by checking my emails. Most of the emails I receive have information for articles in our internal newsletter, TransActions, that I write every month. I am usually writing about anything from industry conferences and events TranSystems’ employees have attended to office outings and important announcements.

9 AM – 12 PM – Work on Award Submittals

Award season is coming up and so are award deadlines. I am working on submitting all sorts of projects for top awards to help TranSystems’ get the recognition we deserve for all the amazing projects we create across the nation. I am collaborating with project leads to make sure we are submitting the most valuable information to create strong submissions that will stand out from the others.

12 – 12:30 PM – Lunch Break

I always take a break for lunch and try to make time to catch up with others during this time!

12:30 – 2 PM – Delivery & Win Announcements

I write Delivery and Win announcements, which are internal, companywide emails that are sent out to highlight some of the amazing work we are doing at TranSystems. I enjoy writing these for others to read so we can congratulate the pursuit teams who put many hours into securing these big wins and to see all the innovative ways our teams are completing complex projects.

2 – 3 PM – Check in with Mentors

I am always checking in with Rachel Brower, Communications Manager, as I am slowly taking over some of her past responsibilities. I work very closely with Rachel, and have learned a lot about corporate marketing and communications from her.

3 – 5 PM – Continue Working on Daily Tasks

I also work on any internal company copy to make sure our documents have our updated branding, values, and language. This can be from creating new content that employees use daily to updating pages on our website.

I also make sure that we are not only recognizing our accomplishments within our own company, but that we are being recognized in the media. If we win any big awards or have made industry news, I contact media outlets sending them press releases to make sure that they promote our story in the news. This helps our company name reach the public eye and stand out to potential clients.

5 PM – Sign-off
